Regando o passado — PRISMA x Jardins Abertos

In “Watering The Past”, the collaborative crossover between Prisma and Jardins Abertos opens a window into the enchanting history of a modest green patio in the old centre of Lisbon. Years and years of history are told through stories, photographs and nostalgic memorabilia, including vintage packets of seeds. This is a history shared by ex-tenants of the patio: Jorge, Paula, and a whole host of peculiar personalities who contributed to the life of this space.

An exhibition that connects the dots between the lives of the patio’s inhabitants, that preserves the past through shared memory, and that promotes a positive and inclusive sense of community identity.

*** Vernissage 3rd of September – 5 pm **

FRIDAY – Someone asked him about the reason for staying. Jay suspended a small fireball in his hand. It seemed a bit like unbreakable liquid azote. Jay told us that many of us were Starseed, we were in this place to help others getting to the higher levels of the multiverse dimensional system. He said that this was his stop. This was how his travel was planned since the beginning. The other travelers would go to their own dimensions to help all the narratives peak their clímaxes.

SARA TRISTAO

Sara Tristão, 1992, was born and raised in Madeira Island and since 2010 I live and work in Lisbon. I studied Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon where I finished my Masters in 2017. My work focuses on the dialogue between objects, paintings or drawings resulting in a world with a language of its own. I collect and collect objects, build them or I represent them through drawing. Sometimes the dialogues that come up are short stories or a simple and subtle action related to personal, political and social concerns. Some of the objects have an ephemeral dimension due to their fragility just like a living being. Objects are constantly endowed with personifications such as the “fingerprints” that they are able to record or the order I return them as if lived in communities. I work with several materials and supports simultaneously many times to complete or highlight a particular idea that you are deconstructing. Most I’m recently exploring raw materials and their limits with a game of shapes. Organic and color and unexpectedly found a fox.

CATARINA GUERREIRO

Catarina Guerreiro was born in Cascais, Portugal, where she lives today. Her passion for the ocean and for understanding how the natural world functions led her to become a marine biogeoscientist, which allowed her to travel the world, feeding her curiosity and sense of adventure. Since 2004, she has undertaken more than ten oceanographic expeditions through the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and even the Southern Ocean, where she spent nearly two months working offshore Antarctica. Catarina published her pictures for the first time in 2016, in the Dutch NRC newspaper, reporting a transatlantic international expedition that she was part of during that same year. In 2020-2021 she was part of the collective exhibit “Narrativas do Intendente” at Casa Independente, Lisbon, promoted and curated by the photographer Pauliana Valente Pimentel. Her love for photography grew side by side with her love for travelling and fueled by a need of tuning herself with the world around her. Apart from her passion for nature in general, Catarina’s favorite photography subjects are people and the colorful diversity of urban landscapes. A great sense of connection to the world is what she gets every time she goes on to explore the frenzy of busy cities, with all its diversity of people and architecture, and finding beauty in the most common things.
