We’re proud to start our journey presenting Francisca Sousa at our first event guested by in collaboration with Gemito….
It’s an exhibition about bodies, intimacy and desire. Without patriarchy or any tie related with gender, identity is built through a narrative of pleasure and through moments we spend in solitude, maybe even quarantined. Sex toys, pornography, short stories and erotic dreams build up an orchestra of moaning illustrated by paintings, drawings and objects. While releasing taboos and climaxing senses, women’s social role is reversed and she becomes dominant, in control of her own situation. There will be no place for new fascisms today.
Francisca works about intimacy, violence and the submissive body. Sexuality and discipline are her main concepts; inside her own universe, painting, illustration and performance art meet and tell stories about love and failure. Patriarchy must fall!… Born in 1992 Francisca is graduated in Painting at FBAUP (Porto), she carried out a study program at Central Saint Martins (London) and did a master’s degree in Multimedia Art at FBAUL (Lisboa).
