Rorig Mirtos is a self taught artist whose background formation is Humanities. He is mostly inspired by what is generally known as “dark art”. Following the themes of the genre, in 2018 he started experimenting with acrylics. However, it was only after being confronted with his mental illness, in January 2021, that he found the medium he his more comfortable with – steel wire. Paintings were replaced by sculptures but the same gloomy themes of the human condition remained: anhedonia, insignificance, fear, fragility, pain, solitude and death. The damnation of his illness was at the same time a need to create beautiful things. As more and more sculptures came about, he started to see art as path to salvation, from depression to the light, from his inner world to artworld where others could also appreciate his creations. Representing the duality of Damnation / Salvation is precisely what this debut show aims at.

Patrícia Figueiredo, fotógrafa e estudante de Conservação e Restauro, nasce em Novembro de 1997 em Lisboa. Licenciada em Fotografia e Cultura Visual pelo IADE- Creative University desde 2019, o seu percurso na área começa aos 16 anos quando ingressa no curso de Fotografia na Escola Artística António Arroio. A conservação e restauro aparecem na sua vida quando fez um estágio na área depois de concluir a sua licenciatura, influenciando assim a decisão de começar uma nova etapa em Conservação e Restauro na FCT NOVA, onde estuda atualmente. Já participou na 6a edição da Feira do Livro de Fotografia de Lisboa, no Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, com um photobook do projecto “ Crystalised”. Em 2019 participou no Streaming Pictures do Deutsche Gesellschaft für Fotografie no Museu de Colónia, e em 2022 participou na exposição X’19-22 com o projecto “Tenderness”.

O fascínio pela fotografia analógica inicia-se a partir do primeiro contacto com a câmara escura, abrindo caminho para as inúmeras possibilidades que a fotografia lhe poderia proporcionar. A curiosidade levou à experimentação e ao explorar de novas técnicas e materiais, e é dessa forma que o Dissolutum Corpus surge.

Este é um projeto que reúne alguns dos trabalhos experimentais executados ao longo dos últimos anos, onde o desconhecido e o improvável são as palavras-chave comuns a todos esses projetos que se interligam num manto de experimentação. A busca pelo inesperado e pelos resultados imprevisíveis é o moto que leva a artista a realizá-lo, sendo que o foco não está no elemento fotografado (apesar da evidente presença do corpo em algumas imagens), mas sim na desconstrução do suporte.

The fascination with analogue photography begins with the first contact with the darkroom, opening the way to the countless possibilities that photography could provide. Curiosity led to experimentation and the exploration of new techniques and materials, and that's how Dissolutum Corpus came about. This is a project that brings together some of the experimental works carried out over the last few years, where the unknown and the improbable are the keywords common to all these projects that are interconnected in a cloak of experimentation.
The search for the unexpected and unpredictable results is the motive that leads the artist to make it, and the focus is not on the photographed element (despite the evident presence of the body in some images), but on the deconstruction of the support.
